Corporate social responsibility has become a key focus for businesses, and Radisson Blu Resort Fiji embodies the Radisson Hotel Group’s values of “Think People, Community and Planet” through its daily operations. Recently, the resort completed a range of “Responsible Business” initiatives in Nadi, extending efforts to Bukuya Village, located deep within Viti Levu. Under the guidance of Responsible Business manager Satya Narayan, resort guests participated in activities aimed at supporting and uplifting local communities.
The initiatives included health checks for staff, a blood donation drive, and a cooking class for the village school. At Bukuya Village, Chef Walter and his culinary team held an interactive cooking session at the local school, where children enjoyed learning essential cooking skills in a lively environment. Following the lesson, the resort provided a delicious lunch, bringing joy and nourishment to the children.
During the visit, the team identified areas for future improvement and has plans for donations later in the year. The resort also reached out to Saint Mina’s Children’s Home in Legalega, Nadi. Throughout the week, engineering and landscaping staff constructed a greenhouse and prepared soil for planting vegetables, all under the guidance of resort volunteers and guests.
The group collaborated to create a garden that promotes sustainable living, providing the children with practical gardening experience while highlighting the significance of fresh food and self-sufficiency. This garden will become a lasting resource for the children, helping them develop a sense of responsibility and a connection to nature.
Charles Homsy, general manager of Radisson Blu Resort Fiji, emphasized that these initiatives give back to the community while promoting sustainable practices. “These initiatives reflect our ongoing dedication to responsible business and the positive impact we aim to have on the lives of those around us,” he stated. The resort intends to continue its Responsible Business initiatives, ensuring a sustained contribution to both the community and the environment.
