Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka met with senior police officials in the Western Division at the Lautoka Police Headquarters yesterday to emphasize the vital role law enforcement plays in ensuring peace and security in the country. During the meeting with the divisional police commander and station officers, he acknowledged the challenges faced by police in maintaining public safety and order.

Rabuka underscored the necessity for police officers to perform their duties with integrity and impartiality, reminding them, “You are law enforcement officers; your responsibility is to enforce the law.” He emphasized the importance of fostering a culture where citizens naturally abide by the law, noting that peaceful communities are less likely to challenge legal systems.

Additionally, the Prime Minister highlighted the need to nurture a national sense of pride and discipline among the populace, encouraging officers to contribute to making people productive members of society. He stressed the necessity of maintaining public confidence in the justice system and rule of law while advocating for transparent and community-oriented policing.

In closing, Rabuka expressed gratitude for the police personnel’s dedication and urged them to uphold professionalism and continuously seek improvement in their roles.

This visit illustrates the government’s commitment to supporting law enforcement and fostering a cooperative relationship between police and the community. As officers work to build trust and transparency, there is hope for a more secure and law-abiding society in the future.
