Rabuka Promises Stability and Unity in Fiji’s Coalition Government

Coalition Confidence: Rabuka's Vision for Fiji's Future

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has expressed strong confidence in the longevity of his coalition government, suggesting it can sustain itself for multiple terms. Speaking at the inauguration of the new Ministry of Sugar Industry and Multi-ethnic Affairs office in Labasa, he reiterated the administration’s dedication to serving the interests of all ethnic groups within the country.

Responding to recent critiques, Rabuka clarified misconceptions surrounding last week’s parliamentary voting, which some linked to an iTaukei nationalism trend. He firmly opposed this characterization, underscoring the coalition’s commitment to unity and understanding among its members as they work to address diverse interests and ensure inclusivity in governance.

In reinforcing his faith in the coalition’s durability, which includes partnerships with the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) and the National Federation Party (NFP), Rabuka assured the public of ongoing support from these allies. This aligns with recent indications that coalition leaders are collaboratively focused on long-term strategies to tackle significant national challenges.

Moreover, the Prime Minister urged the community in the North to take advantage of the new office at Macuata House, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to engaging with citizens and responding to their needs.

Looking ahead, Rabuka is set to travel to New Zealand for discussions with its Prime Minister and participate in Fiji Day celebrations, in addition to attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa. These forthcoming engagements highlight the government’s dedication to fostering a prosperous future for all Fijians, particularly the youth.

This proactive approach signifies a hopeful outlook among government leaders, aiming to maintain coalition stability and effectively address pressing national issues.
