Defending champions Queen Victoria School secured their spot in the semifinals of the Vodafone Deans U18 competition with a 13-6 victory over Marist Brothers High School in the final quarterfinal held at the HFC Bank Stadium.
QVS got off to a strong start, scoring their first try in the 20th minute, followed by a second try just two minutes later. This quick scoring spree gave them a 13-3 advantage at halftime, putting pressure on Marist.
In the second half, although QVS was unable to extend their lead, Marist fought back with a penalty kick, narrowing the score to 13-6. Despite this, QVS’s defense remained solid, showcasing determination and resilience to maintain their lead.
Marist put forth a strong effort in the closing minutes to equalize, but QVS held strong and denied them any further scoring opportunities.
