Defending champions Queen Victoria School have advanced to the semifinals of the Vodafone Deans U18 competition after securing a 13-6 victory over Marist Brothers High School in the final quarterfinal match held at the HFC Bank Stadium today.
QVS made a strong start, scoring their first try in the 20th minute, followed by another two minutes later. This quick succession allowed them to establish a 13-3 lead by halftime, putting Marist on the defensive.
In the second half, QVS was unable to add to their score as Marist tightened their defense and managed to close the gap with a penalty kick, bringing the score to 13-6.
Nevertheless, QVS’s defense remained resolute, demonstrating significant grit and determination to maintain their lead. Marist made a late push in the closing moments of the game, but QVS held firm, preventing their opponents from gaining any additional points.
