The FMF Bula Festival queen contestants recently engaged in a community clean-up initiative at Koroivolu Park in Nadi Town, highlighting their commitment to environmental conservation. Miss PSG Electrical, Karalaini Turuva, emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment, stating, “We should assist each other in maintaining a clean environment.” Her sentiments were shared by Miss Guard Force Fiji, Phoebe Wilson, who encouraged the residents of Nadi to contribute to keeping their community clean for health reasons. Wilson asserted, “When we have an unsafe environment, it may affect our health as well,” suggesting that small actions, like picking up rubbish, can significantly impact public health.

The 65th FMF Nadi Bula Festival is scheduled to take place from July 19 to July 26 at Koroivolu Park, where an entertainment stage will be located at Prince Charles Park. This year, nine contestants are competing for the title of Miss Bula Queen. The festival promises to be a vibrant display of culture and community spirit, fostering a hopeful message of unity and responsibility, especially in light of recent community initiatives that echo themes of social awareness and advocacy.

This year’s festival not only celebrates beauty and pageantry but also serves as a platform for raising important social and health issues in Fiji. The contestants are gearing up to not only compete for the coveted crown but also to advocate for community health and well-being, indicative of a broader trend seen in other festivals across the region.

Overall, the proactive engagement of contestants in environmental efforts showcases the importance of community involvement and inspires a collective approach to fostering a cleaner and healthier environment in Fiji.
