The poor state of the roads at the Suva Bus Stand has raised alarms for both pedestrians and bus operators. The presence of numerous potholes has made navigating the area particularly challenging, especially during peak traffic times.
In light of these concerns, the Suva City Council (SCC) has reassured the public that repairing the roads is a priority. Acting chief executive officer Tevita Boseiwaqa stated that the council is actively communicating with the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to resolve the issue promptly.
Boseiwaqa emphasized, “We are treating this as a priority. We’ve engaged the FRA, and I can assure the public that this will be fixed as soon as possible. The recent wet weather has played a significant role in the deterioration of the roads. Once conditions improve, we will initiate the necessary repair work.”
The situation underscores a proactive approach by the SCC to address community concerns, signaling that improvements are on the horizon. With collaborative efforts between the council and the FRA, there is hope for safer and more navigable roads in Suva.
