Political Turmoil or Just Rumors? Kamikamica Weighs In

Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica has rejected allegations that some members of the People’s Alliance Party are contemplating the formation of a new political party, describing these claims as unfounded rumors.

This statement follows a recent meeting of the Party where members discussed these speculations and reaffirmed their support for Party Leader and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. Kamikamica expressed that any discussions about creating a new party could disrupt the nation’s stability.

According to him, the speculations regarding a faction intending to break away from the party are largely unsubstantiated. “From all the discussions I’ve had, it reflects the unity among the members of the Caucus. We are all aligned in the belief that if anyone wishes to leave to form a new party, it is more rumor than reality,” Kamikamica stated.

He emphasized the importance of the People’s Alliance Party remaining united and dedicated to advancing the nation. Looking ahead, he mentioned significant initiatives planned for next year, including a constitutional review, the establishment of a reconciliation commission, and an aim to boost the economy by 5%. He noted that there are critical challenges ahead that require collective focus.

Kamikamica pointed out that the people of Fiji had only recently elected a new government after 16 years under a different administration. He warned that any talk of a new party could jeopardize the nation’s stability.

“Everyone can see what needs to be accomplished in Fiji, and those attempting to form a new political party should resign. We must remain disciplined and committed to the journey we are on,” he asserted.

He concluded by stressing the importance of stability in the country, stating that many of his colleagues quickly rallied behind the Prime Minister to quell what he considers to be baseless rumors. Kamikamica encouraged Fijians to prioritize political and economic stability and to avoid spreading unverified information.
