Police are urging minors to steer clear of nightclubs and late-night venues this festive season, addressing a concerning rise in alcohol-related disturbances. Authorities emphasize that young individuals risk facing serious legal implications and life-altering consequences due to inappropriate choices during this celebratory time.

In preparation for the increased nightlife activity, officers have been deployed across major towns and cities to monitor and prevent underage drinking, disorderly conduct, and other alcohol-related offenses. Acting Police Commissioner Aporosa Lutunauga has reiterated the importance of young people taking responsibility for their safety and future.

“Minors, please stay home and engage in activities that are beneficial for your personal growth. Consider your careers and futures. Once you find yourself in conflict with the law, we will act fully within the legal framework, and such encounters can jeopardize your career and your life,” Lutunauga warns.

Alcohol has consistently been identified as a significant contributor to crime and disorder, especially during the festive season at nightlife venues. The police department is prepared with adequate manpower to ensure safety in clubs and major urban areas.

Nightclub owners are also actively participating in efforts to prevent underage access and to promote responsible alcohol service. Venue owner Albert Chand highlights the proactive measures being implemented: “We need to be very particular and responsible about who we serve alcohol to. We have security personnel in place to ensure compliance, including our overnight manager who oversees operations.”

Additionally, police are encouraging parents and guardians to engage in discussions with their children about the potential risks associated with nightlife, alcohol consumption, and peer pressure, especially during a season characterized by celebration rather than regret.

Community collaboration and responsible behavior can ensure a safe and enjoyable festive season for all.
