Five police officers were charged last month with various offenses, including assault causing actual bodily harm, serious assaults, and unlawful possession of illegal drugs. All officers are currently on suspension while awaiting the outcome of their court proceedings. Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew emphasized the organization’s commitment to fairness and transparency, stating that officers will be held accountable for their actions if they do not adhere to the laws they enforce. He noted that the rise in reports can also be linked to increased community confidence in reporting incidents, which has been bolstered by enhanced awareness and outreach programs.
