Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has called on families to address disputes privately instead of turning to social media platforms for resolution. This statement comes in light of a recent incident where two children were taken from their mother following a Recovery Order issued by the Nadi Family Court.

Commissioner Tudravu emphasized the importance of cooperation when law enforcement is carrying out their responsibilities. He expressed empathy for the children and families involved but underscored the necessity for police to uphold their duties. “While we respect the use of social media to raise opinions and issues, we urge members of the public to first try to get both sides of the story before commenting unnecessarily,” he remarked.

The situation escalated during the recovery process, prompting the police to intervene when relatives attempted to interfere. This interference was recorded and subsequently shared online, drawing significant attention and commentary from the public.

A police statement detailed that prior to executing the Recovery Order, officers had a discussion with the children’s mother, who eventually agreed to comply by surrendering the children to the applicant in a peaceful manner. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges that arise in family disputes and the often complex dynamics involved.

Commissioner Tudravu’s plea for restraint and understanding in these matters aims to foster an environment where family issues can be resolved more amicably, without the added burden of public scrutiny. By promoting private resolution over social media engagement, he hopes to mitigate the potential for further turmoil in sensitive situations.
