Peter Greene, renowned character actor famed for his portrayal of the memorable villain Zed in Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction,” has passed away at the age of 60. His manager, Gregg Edwards, confirmed that Greene died in his New York City home, although the cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Edwards expressed his sadness, remembering Greene as “a terrific guy” and “arguably one of the greatest character actors on the planet,” highlighting his extensive collaborations throughout his career.

Greene was born in Montclair, New Jersey, and began to carve out a niche for himself in the film industry with standout performances in “Laws of Gravity” in 1992 and “Clean, Shaven” in 1993. His breakout role came in 1994 with “Pulp Fiction,” which cemented his status in Hollywood. That same year, he appeared as a leading villain opposite Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz in “The Mask,” further solidifying his recognition.

At the time of his death, Greene was actively working on two projects, including a documentary focused on the U.S. government’s withdrawal of funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development.

Edwards reflected on their friendship, stating, “We’ve been friends for over a decade. Just the nicest man.” Greene’s legacy as a versatile character actor and a beloved figure in the industry will undoubtedly be remembered fondly by those who knew him and by film enthusiasts alike.
