Pasifika Communications: Three Decades of Creative Excellence in the Pacific

Pasifika Communications, Fiji’s premier full-service creative agency, commemorated its 30th anniversary at an event held at Paradiso Restaurant in Suva last night.

The celebration reflected on Pasifika’s remarkable journey over the years, emphasizing the commitment and hard work of its skilled employees, the loyalty and collaboration of its clients, and the support from the communities it serves.

Established in August 1994, Pasifika has evolved into the largest and most successful creative agency in the Pacific, offering communication and marketing solutions to commercial and non-commercial organizations, as well as governments across the Pacific islands.

Over the last thirty years, Pasifika Communications has delivered a diverse array of services including design, advertising, media management, video production, market research, and digital marketing for Fiji and other Pacific nations, gaining a reputation for high-quality work that embodies the unique cultures and voices of the region.

Dale Hermanson, the founder and Managing Director of Pasifika Communications, expressed pride in reaching this significant milestone. “Our commitment to excellence and creativity has been our driving force for 30 years. I believe our extensive experience across the Pacific island countries positions us as the ideal choice for communicating or advertising in the region,” said Mr. Hermanson.

Throughout its history, Pasifika Communications has garnered recognition for its contributions to the advertising and marketing sectors, with several notable achievements including:

– Numerous awards for Best Annual Report design, Best TV Commercial, and Best Documentary.
– Winning five FTIB (now Investment Fiji) awards in 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000, and 2003.
– Having three videos selected for the Hawaii International Film Festival.
– Letila Mitchell, representing Pasifika Communications, was crowned 1997 Miss Hibiscus.
– The production of “Suva City,” which was the first dramatic TV series in the Pacific Islands.
– Establishing Fiji’s first taxi signage service, TranSigns.
– In 2017, Natalia Evans became one of the first female General Managers of an advertising company in Fiji, while Sashi Chand became the Business Development Manager and both later became directors of the company. Additionally, all three department managers at Pasifika are women.
– Launching its Digital Department in 2017, enabling a range of digital marketing services for clients.

Reflecting on the challenges faced, Mr. Hermanson stated, “At times, the journey has been difficult for Pasifika. We had to navigate through the 2000 coup, the 2006 coup, the global financial crisis, and COVID. Yet, we are still standing, and I believe we are stronger than ever.”

Looking ahead, the company remains focused on future growth. Ms. Chand mentioned, “Even though we have been in business for three decades, we plan to expand our services and adopt the latest technologies.” Ms. Evans added, “Our vision for the future is to continue pushing boundaries and exploring innovative solutions for our clients. We are excited about the opportunities ahead and committed to making a lasting impact.”
