The Speaker of Parliament, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, announced that, based on legal guidance, Section 11 of the Parliamentary Remuneration Act 2014 states that the new pay determination made by Parliament in May has replaced the 2020 Determination. During a parliamentary session, Ratu Naiqama confirmed that the 2020 Determination is effectively nullified, and the 2024 Determination confirms that current salaries for Members of Parliament will be at 100 percent, effective from August 2024. He clarified that Members of Parliament are now receiving full salaries at this rate.
