The Peoples Alliance Party (PAP) reported a financial loss of $143,492 for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2024, as indicated in its accounts submitted to the Fijian Elections Office. Signed by party leader Sitiveni Rabuka and secretary Sila Balawa, the documents reveal total revenues of $356,129 against expenses that amounted to $499,621.

The party’s funding primarily came from a government grant of $325,000 and $18,237 in donations, all sourced from within Fiji. The expenditures included $214,412 allocated to secretariat support allowances, $46,008 for the party general secretary’s salary, $44,000 for rent, $27,862 for travel and accommodation, and $10,000 designated for legal fees.

Currently, PAP holds two bank accounts with the Bank of South Pacific, containing $55,106 and $6,718 respectively, and maintains total assets valued at $103,718. Key figures within the organization include acting president Ratu Josefa Dimuri, senior vice president Isoa Gavidi, and others, illustrating a cohesive leadership team despite recent challenges.

In light of the upcoming 2026 General Elections, the party’s financial health alongside its leadership dynamics is crucial as Rabuka has expressed his willingness to lead again if supported by the party. As political sentiment evolves, with voters reflecting on past performances and future aspirations, there remains an opportunity for PAP to regroup, innovate, and engage more effectively.

While the current financial loss might seem daunting, it can serve as a catalyst for introspection and restructuring within the party. By addressing financial management and reinforcing voter connection, PAP can strive for renewed support as the elections approach. With a strong emphasis on unity and forward-thinking strategies, the party has the potential to restore confidence among its constituents.
