Sixty-four graduates from Pacific Polytech’s Navua campus have successfully completed their certifications in agriculture, carpentry, software application, and information and communications technology (ICT). This milestone was celebrated during the inaugural graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025, where Assistant Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Sakiusa Tubuna, highlighted the significance of the event for national trade and skill development.
Mr. Tubuna emphasized that this graduation marks a pivotal step towards enhancing Fiji’s competencies in infrastructure, digital transformation, and the agricultural sector. He acknowledged that not all students excel in traditional academic settings, aligning with the institution’s mission to provide practical vocational training.
Pacific Polytech director Peni Taoi reiterated the school’s commitment to developing essential skills that can improve living standards within the community. He stressed the importance of continued government support for the institution, particularly in providing opportunities for school dropouts to earn valuable trade certifications. This effort aims to bridge the gap between university education and vocational training, offering a second chance for those who have faced obstacles in their educational journey.
Mr. Taoi encouraged prospective students to be proactive in their applications, ensuring that their personal information is accurate and current. He also highlighted the available funding through the Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Scheme (TSLS), inviting students to apply for enrollment at Pacific Polytech. The next academic term will commence on January 19, 2026, and he urged students to act promptly in securing their spots.
This graduation not only represents personal achievement for the students but also signifies a collective advancement towards a brighter future for Fiji’s workforce.
