The Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) is increasingly alarmed about the need for smaller nations in the region to protect their sovereignty in light of China’s growing influence. Secretary-General Baron Waqa emphasized the importance of crafting new partnerships that cater specifically to the needs of Pacific island countries.
