The Pacific Islands Forum Troika Leaders convened for their first in-person meeting of the year in Nadi, Fiji, focusing on key regional priorities. In attendance were prominent figures such as the Outgoing Chairperson, Dr. ‘Aisake Valu Eke, Prime Minister of Tonga, Incoming Chairperson Jeremiah Manele from Solomon Islands, Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown, and the President of Palau, H.E Surangel Whipps Jr.
One focal point of the discussions was the Review of the Regional Architecture and its implications in light of recent U.S. decisions impacting the region. The leaders also reviewed the 2024 Troika Plus New Caledonia Mission Report, a critical assessment related to governance and potential unrest in New Caledonia.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka of Fiji graciously welcomed the Troika leaders with a lunch, emphasizing the importance of dialogue among member nations. President Whipps contributed to discussions as the Micronesian representative, showcasing collaborative efforts within the region.
