Oceania Education and Technology Solutions (OETS) is actively addressing the challenge of graduate unemployment, emphasizing its commitment to providing tangible job opportunities instead of mere promises. During the launch of its three new subsidiaries at Challenge Plaza in Nadi, Group CEO and Managing Director Hasmukh Lal expressed the institution’s dedication to ensuring that students are trained to meet actual industry requirements.
Lal highlighted that by forging robust partnerships with industry leaders, graduates will be well-positioned to transition directly into the workforce, thereby contributing to the economy from the moment they complete their studies. OETS has established collaborations with prominent companies, including Telecom Fiji Ltd, Datec Fiji Ltd, and Empower Pacific. These partnerships are designed to align educational programs with current labor market demands.
Specifically, Telecom Fiji Ltd will provide support for the Diploma of Telecommunications and Network Engineering, while Datec Fiji Ltd will back the Diploma of Software Development and the Diploma in Cyber Security. Empower Pacific will assist with certificate and diploma programs focused on counseling. Representatives from these industry partners emphasized that such collaborations bring added value to both the education sector and the business community, aiming to equip students with relevant skills crucial for Fiji’s development.
Moreover, the partnerships include provisions for students to undertake internships prior to graduation, significantly enhancing their employability and job accessibility post-study. On the same day, OETS unveiled its three new educational institutions: the Oceania Institute of Technology, the Pacific Study Hub, and the Canterbury Language Academy, marking a significant step in its mission to foster skilled talent in the region.
This initiative not only reflects OETS’s proactive stance on addressing unemployment but also offers a hopeful outlook for graduates poised to enter a more supportive and structured job market.
