St. Theresa Nukubalavu Under-20 captain Rafaele Dagaga is maintaining a positive outlook following his team’s semifinal defeat to Village Boys in the youth category at the McDonald’s Coral Coast 7s. Despite the disappointment of the loss, Dagaga views the experience as a significant learning opportunity for the young squad.

Competing in the tournament for the first time, Nukubalavu exceeded expectations by reaching the semifinals, especially against more seasoned opponents. Dagaga expressed pride in the team’s achievement, stating, “We did not expect to even make it to the semifinal as this is our first time participating in the Coral Coast 7s.”

The young captain acknowledged the setback but emphasized the importance of growth, noting that it has provided the team with a clear understanding of areas that require improvement. “We’ll go back and work on our errors,” he said, expressing confidence that the exposure at the Coral Coast 7s will significantly contribute to the team’s development as they prepare for future competitions.

The Coral Coast 7s continues at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, offering further opportunities for teams to showcase their talents and gain valuable experience. Such tournaments not only promote talented athletes but also foster the spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork among the participants.
