Labasa’s Northpole FC triumphed at the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship, securing a thrilling 6-3 victory over Buiduna FC from Tailevu Naitasiri in a match held at the Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa.

The match commenced with Salimone Ravonokula giving Northpole an early lead in the 10th minute, and veteran forward Christopher Wasasala increased the advantage by converting a penalty kick in the 30th minute. However, Buiduna FC responded just before halftime, with France Catarogo scoring in the 38th minute, and Sairusi Qiolevu leveling the score moments before the break, setting the stage for an exciting second half.

In the latter half, Northpole FC demonstrated their dominance, adding four more goals to their tally from Melvin Mani, Wasasala, Eparama Moraica, and Malakai Arabaz. Their performance not only secured them the championship title but also a prize of $4,000. Northpole also received the Fair Play award, while Wasasala was celebrated as the tournament’s top scorer with six goals, earning him the Golden Boot Award. Ilisoni Lolaivalu received the Golden Ball Award for his exceptional performance throughout the tournament.

Buiduna FC, despite their loss, earned $1,000 and goalkeeper Kitione Baleiloa was awarded the Golden Glove for his standout contributions.
