Labasa’s North-pole football club celebrated a significant victory as they secured $4,000 by winning the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship (NCCC). They triumphed over Buiduna with a score of 6-3 during the match held at the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) grounds yesterday.
The game was fiercely contested, with both teams tied at 2-2 at halftime. In the second half, Melvin Mani scored to give North-pole the lead in the 55th minute, followed by Christopher Wasasala, who netted his second goal just six minutes later. Eparama Moraica and Mo-hammed Arbaz contributed to the final score, securing North-pole’s win.
Despite the loss, Buiduna made history as they reached their first NCCC final. Their journey to the final included a 2-1 win over Nakasi Police, a narrow 1-0 victory against Lautoka’s rivals, and a draw with Nadroga’s Downtown, which ensured their place in the championship match. Buiduna received $1,000 for their commendable performance.
