A nightclub bouncer has been taken into custody following a brawl that occurred in Suva in the early hours of yesterday. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu confirmed the arrest and stated that law enforcement is in the process of gathering additional individuals involved in the incident and is actively searching for others.

ACPO Driu has urged the public not to take matters into their own hands and to allow the police to handle the situation. He emphasized the importance of remaining calm, particularly as emotions are running high. “Taking matters into your own hands won’t resolve anything; it will only escalate the situation,” he advised.

A dedicated team of police officers from the Totogo Police Station has been deployed to Namatakula Village to collect statements from those involved and witnesses. Driu encouraged cooperation from all parties and advised them to have patience as the investigation unfolds.

The police are also monitoring social media for any threats or inflammatory posts and will be ready to intervene if necessary. As the New Year approaches, ACP Driu assured the public that police will remain vigilant to ensure everyone’s safety.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of community cooperation with law enforcement. By allowing the police to conduct their investigation without interference, the situation can be resolved more effectively. The commitment of local authorities to maintain public safety is a reassuring sign for residents as they welcome the New Year.

In summary, law enforcement is actively managing a brawl incident and is urging the community to stay calm and cooperate to ensure a safe environment for all.
