The healthy baby weighed 2.85 kilograms. Despite the challenges of labor, Ms. Likucokocoko expressed deep gratitude to the medical team and described the moment as a precious gift from God, saying, “This is a moment our family will cherish forever as we are all overjoyed by the unexpected arrival.”
Further west in Nadi, Akeneta Ranadi, 29, gave birth to a daughter at Nadi Hospital, also ahead of her due date, which was January 8. She expressed her joy at the blessing of a New Year’s Day birth, believing it to be a positive sign of prosperity. Her baby weighed 3.78 kilograms, and as a mother of young children living alone while her partner works abroad, Ms. Ranadi described the arrival as a bright start to the year.
In the northern region, Senimili Duavokavoka from Ligau Village celebrated the birth of her son, Suliasi Vunibola Turaganivalu, at Labasa Hospital in the early hours of New Year’s Day. Describing her son as the perfect gift to complete their family, she shared her overwhelming relief and joy at hearing his first cry. Her husband, Seresio Turaganivlau, expressed pride at the new addition to their family.
These heartfelt stories reflect the joy and hope that new life brings, especially at the start of a new year. Each mother emphasized gratitude for the health and well-being of their children, highlighting the sense of optimism that accompanies such significant life events.
Overall, these newborns symbolize a bright future and serve as reminders of the blessings that families can appreciate at the dawn of a new year.
