The 2025 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) has been relocated from Ba’s 4R Stadium to Churchill Park in Lautoka due to issues with floodlights needed for night games. The Ba Town Council informed the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) that it could not provide the necessary lighting arrangements, which were expected to include temporary floodlights from a contractor.

Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel stated that the decision to move the championship was made swiftly to ensure the smooth running of the tournament, despite the initial excitement surrounding bringing the IDC to the newly renovated stadium in Ba. He thanked the Ba Town Council for its previous support and expressed hope that in the future, a major event could be hosted in Ba once the stadium is equipped for night matches.

The IDC will take place from October 7-12, 2025, continuing Ba’s legacy in hosting this popular football event, albeit at a different venue this time.

This change highlights the challenges faced in organizing sporting events, particularly regarding facilities and infrastructure. Nonetheless, it also underscores the adaptability of the Fiji FA in ensuring that the IDC can still proceed, promising an exciting experience for fans and players alike at Churchill Park.

Reflecting on previous articles about the IDC, including the anticipated return of the championship to Ba and the community spirit that football fosters, one can remain optimistic about future events. As local enthusiasm and community engagement grow, there is every chance that Ba will host a future IDC, equipped and ready to welcome fans and teams to its new stadium under the bright lights.
