FRESH Choice Supermarket, operated by the P Meghji Group, celebrated the opening of its fifth branch in Namaka, Nadi, this week, further enhancing grocery options for residents in the area. General Manager Eremasi Matanitabu announced that the new location will employ 50 full-time staff along with part-time employees.
The supermarket boasts a diverse range of facilities, including a liquor shop, a café, and a fully-equipped butcher. In addition, a bakery based in Lautoka supplies fresh bread to this branch as well as to other locations in Denarau, ensuring that the community has access to high-quality baked goods.
With a total initial investment of $3.5 million for this new branch, Matanitabu highlighted that this marks a significant step in the P Meghji Group’s continued expansion in Fiji. The company has strategically opened various branches, starting from Denarau, followed by Garden City, Lautoka, Namadi Heights, and now Namaka, with plans for further growth.
Matanitabu remarked on the logistical support provided by their liquor and grocery segments, indicating a robust infrastructure that has established the P Meghji Group as a key player in the local retail market for over three decades. This dedication to service not only meets consumer demand but also significantly contributes to the local economy by generating employment.
The growth of FRESH Choice Supermarket reflects a broader trend of community-focused enterprises arising throughout the region, similar to recent openings like Family Choice Supermarket, which also aimed to cater to local residents while generating jobs. As these initiatives flourish, they demonstrate a collective commitment to enhancing community services and overall economic empowerment, creating a brighter future for local families.
These expansions are indicative of a positive trajectory for economic development and community engagement, promising improved access to essential goods and necessary services while fostering local employment opportunities.
