ESITA Lobe is an enthusiastic newcomer to the South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) program, having joined just a few months back. Alongside 32 other women, she is part of a vibrant network dedicated to economic empowerment and community development. Despite still being in the early stages of her journey with SPBD, Esita has already experienced positive changes in her personal and financial growth.
Operating a small food stall in Valelevu, Esita offers a variety of cooked dishes, including roti parcels and homemade juices. This enterprise not only serves as a source of income for her family but also helps meet their daily needs. She credits her involvement with SPBD for enhancing her financial literacy, stating, “Through the trainings and group meetings, I have learned how to better manage my money, budget wisely, and plan for the future.”
A key aspect of SPBD is teamwork, which Esita recognizes fosters both strength and challenges. With over 30 women in her group, she understands that aligning everyone’s goals can be a struggle. “Sometimes, aligning everyone’s goals and efforts can be difficult, but we are committed to finding ways to support each other and grow collectively,” she remarked.
Esita explained that the club maintains its cohesion through contributions from members, which support club operations and fund group activities, trainings, and emergencies. These small payments not only encourage financial responsibility but also enhance the spirit of shared ownership and support among the members.
“Despite the early challenges, we remain positive and hopeful,” she added. “With the practical financial knowledge we’re gaining, it has inspired us to continue building our business and working with our group toward greater success.” Esita is optimistic that continued effort and cooperation among the members will lead to collective upliftment and lasting change in their lives.
This dedication to mutual support and financial education highlights the potential for positive transformation within their communities, showcasing how individual efforts can contribute to broader economic empowerment.
