New Police Commissioner Appointment Awaited After Parliament

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) is likely to meet after Parliament to discuss the appointment of a new Police Commissioner. During an inquiry about the COC’s schedule for this month, Mr. Rabuka stated, “I’ll listen to the Solicitor-General, who is also the secretariat, probably will be after Parliament.”

The deadline for applications for the Commissioner of Police position was expected to conclude yesterday. The Prime Minister mentioned that all submissions would be thoroughly reviewed by the COC after the advertising period ends. He added, “Once it’s confirmed by the COC, it will be published.”
