The Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) has launched an innovative loyalty program aimed at rewarding productive sugar cane growers across the country. This initiative seeks to enhance the lives of these farmers by partnering with various essential service and product providers.

Ahemad Bhamji, the chairperson of SCGF, emphasized the program’s unique approach, noting that growers do not have to be direct customers of SCGF to participate. The SCGF has engaged multiple service and product providers—including those offering farm machinery, hardware, medical services, and ICT products—who have agreed to extend discounts to growers presenting the loyalty card. These discounts could range from 2% to 10%, which can significantly reduce costs for the farmers.

In addition to this, negotiations are ongoing with two petroleum companies to potentially expand the range of benefits available to participants. Importantly, for the first three years, there will be no membership fees for growers wanting to join the program, making it an accessible initiative for all registered productive cane growers.

The SCGF noted the existence of over 10,500 productive growers in the industry, suggesting that when united, they possess considerable buying power to negotiate favorable offers. The loyalty program, facilitated by GEM IT, is set to be fully operational by December 15.

This program represents a significant step forward in supporting the agricultural community and reinforcing the value of collaboration among farmers. It not only encourages productivity within the sector but also fosters a sense of community and shared prosperity among growers.

In summary, the SCGF’s loyalty program is poised to deliver meaningful benefits to sugar cane farmers while enhancing their economic resilience through collective bargaining. As it kicks off, it promises to create a supportive environment for grower success in the industry.
