The Public Service Commission, in agreement with the Prime Minister, has announced the appointment of Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, effective September 30, 2024.
Cirikiyasawa takes over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who is transitioning to a new position after four years of dedicated service in the role.
With more than twenty years of professional experience, Cirikiyasawa previously worked in the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, and the National Planning Office, holding various senior positions before joining the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2018. His work with UNDP has contributed significantly to global development efforts.
The Commission expressed enthusiasm about Cirikiyasawa’s appointment. Chairman Luke Rokovada praised his record of leadership, innovation, and strategic vision, deeming him well-suited to lead the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources.
In his new role, Cirikiyasawa will oversee the Ministry’s strategy and operations, focusing on innovation, expansion, and sustainability. He is eager to apply his expertise in the Ministry and is dedicated to fostering continued growth and success.
Cirikiyasawa holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science.
Dr. Raijeli Taga will remain with the Ministry and will begin her new role in mid-October 2024. Chairman Rokovada highlighted her significant contributions to the Ministry’s achievements during her tenure.
