The Public Service Commission, in agreement with the Prime Minister, has announced the appointment of Mr. Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, effective September 30, 2024.
Cirikiyasawa will take over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who is transitioning to a new role after four years of dedicated service in the same position.
With over twenty years of professional experience, Cirikiyasawa has held senior roles in the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, as well as the National Planning Office, before joining the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2018. His work with UNDP has focused on contributing to global development initiatives.
Chairman Luke Rokovada expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, highlighting Cirikiyasawa’s strong leadership, innovative approach, and strategic insight, which make him well-suited to guide the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources.
In his new role, Cirikiyasawa will oversee the Ministry’s strategic direction and operations, emphasizing innovation, development, and sustainability. He is eager to apply his expertise and is committed to promoting growth and success within the Ministry.
Cirikiyasawa holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science.
Conversely, Dr. Raijeli Taga will continue with the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources as she prepares for her new position, which will commence in mid-October 2024. Chairman Rokovada acknowledged Dr. Taga’s significant contributions to the Ministry’s achievements during her tenure.
