New Leadership at the Ministry of Lands: Meet Paula Cirikiyasawa

The Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources has appointed Paula Cirikiyasawa as its new permanent secretary. Cirikiyasawa brings with him 20 years of experience in civil service and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He succeeds Dr. Raijeli Taga, who has transitioned to a new position after serving four years in this role.

Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Luke Rokovada, highlighted Cirikiyasawa’s proven leadership abilities, innovative mindset, and strategic vision as key factors that make him an excellent fit for the job. Prior to this appointment, Cirikiyasawa held various senior positions in the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, and the National Planning Office before joining the UNDP in 2018, where he applied his skills to support global development initiatives.

Rokovada expressed enthusiasm about Cirikiyasawa’s appointment, noting that he is set to guide the ministry’s strategic direction and operations with an emphasis on innovation, growth, and sustainability. Cirikiyasawa himself has expressed eagerness to leverage his expertise in this new role and is committed to fostering ongoing development and success.

Dr. Taga will commence her new role next month, and Rokovada acknowledged her significant contributions to the ministry’s achievements during her tenure.
