New Leadership at Lands and Mineral Resources: Paula Cirikiyasawa Takes the Helm

The Public Service Commission, in collaboration with the Prime Minister, has appointed Mr. Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, effective September 30, 2024.

Cirikiyasawa takes over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who will transition to a new position after four years of dedicated service in the role.

With over twenty years of professional experience, Cirikiyasawa has previously held senior positions in the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, and the National Planning Office before joining the UNDP in 2018, where he has been making significant contributions to global development initiatives.

Chairman of the Commission, Luke Rokovada, expressed enthusiasm about Cirikiyasawa’s appointment, highlighting his proven leadership, innovation, and strategic vision as key attributes for the role.

As the new Permanent Secretary, Cirikiyasawa will oversee the Ministry’s strategic direction and operations, emphasizing innovation, expansion, and sustainability. He is eager to apply his expertise to ensure the Ministry’s growth and success.

Cirikiyasawa holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science.

Dr. Raijeli Taga will remain with the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources and assume her new role in mid-October 2024. Chairman Rokovada noted her significant contributions and leadership during her tenure, which have been crucial to the Ministry’s success.
