Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has called on the police force to collaborate in fostering a safe environment for citizens during the inauguration of the newly refurbished Lautoka Police Station, a project that cost $30 million. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Rabuka emphasized that effective policing hinges on teamwork between officers in uniform and leaders within the force.
“I encourage you to work together to create that environment of safety and security among the people,” he stated. The Prime Minister reiterated the significance of police visibility and their ability to offer encouragement and guidance as vital elements in maintaining national safety.
He also took a moment to thank the officials and the Yanjian Group Fiji Pte Ltd, the construction team behind the station, for their efforts in bringing the project to fruition.
In alignment with enhancing community policing, Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu announced plans to decentralize certain units from Suva to the Western Division. He highlighted the increasing demands for police services from the public and noted that the reinvigoration of police stations, like the one in Lautoka, reflects a broader commitment to effective community service.
Mr. Tudravu expressed gratitude towards the previous administration for initiating the station’s construction and extended his appreciation to the Coalition Government for ensuring its completion. This proactive approach signifies a strong commitment to enhancing police services and promoting safety across Fiji.
