Fiji Airways has announced the arrival of its latest ATR aircraft for Fiji Link, marking a significant investment aimed at bolstering domestic and regional air services. The new aircraft landed in Nadi on January 7 after completing an extensive delivery flight that began in Toulouse, France.
The journey spanned several days and crossed through eight countries, with stops in Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, India, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the Solomon Islands prior to arriving in Fiji. This strategic addition is part of Fiji Link’s continued efforts to enhance connectivity for outer islands and remote communities, which play an essential role in supporting tourism and overall economic activity.
Fiji Link, functioning as the domestic and regional branch of Fiji Airways, has a long-standing commitment to connecting various parts of the nation and fostering economic growth. Chief Fiji Link and Cargo Operations Officer Athil Narayan emphasized that the introduction of this new aircraft goes beyond just fleet enhancement; it aims to improve connectivity and create increased opportunities for trade, movement, and shared experiences across Fiji and the broader Pacific region.
This ATR aircraft is designed to offer better operational performance, boasting superior fuel efficiency and enhanced capabilities tailored for island conditions. Additionally, it promises increased passenger comfort for those traveling within Fiji and to nearby Pacific destinations. Once the aircraft undergoes final checks, it will be deployed on essential domestic routes, further facilitating inter-island travel and strengthening Fiji Airways’ mission of connecting communities nationwide.
With this investment, Fiji Link continues to reaffirm its dedication to enhancing air travel connectivity in the Pacific, paving the way for greater accessibility and economic opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
