Work has officially started on the setup of a new CT scan machine at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWM) in Fiji, which has been without a working CT scanner since last year. This advancement in healthcare services is facilitated by a COVID-19 grant from the Government of Japan.
Assistant Minister for Health Penioni Ravunawa announced that the older CT machine has been completely decommissioned, and the installation of the new machine is currently underway. The Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services team was able to deliver the cutting-edge scanner to CWM Hospital last Sunday. The Ministry of Health thanked the Japanese government for their generous support and expressed appreciation to the community for their patience during this transition.
This new CT scanner is part of broader efforts to modernize Fiji’s healthcare infrastructure. Recently, similar initiatives have been undertaken, such as the reinstatement of essential equipment like the Digital Portable X-Ray Machine at Savusavu Hospital. These upgrades signify a commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and the overall quality of services across the nation.
The introduction of this state-of-the-art medical equipment cultivates a hopeful perspective for enhanced health outcomes in Fiji. Ongoing collaborations between the Fijian government and international partners are fostering a future of improved healthcare services, which will ultimately benefit the population. This progress in healthcare infrastructure not only elevates medical facilities but also reinforces a collective commitment to the health and well-being of communities throughout Fiji.
