A new champion will emerge in the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) in Lautoka this weekend after the defending titleholders, Ba, were eliminated following a 1-1 draw with Rewa in their final group match.
Coached by Timoci Seru, Ba experienced a disappointing tournament, gathering only two points and scoring just one goal over three matches.
To advance, Ba needed to secure a win by at least two goals. However, Rewa took an early lead with a free-kick from Patrick Joseph in the third minute, followed by Nabil Begg equalizing for Ba from the penalty spot in the 11th minute.
As a result, Nadi has qualified for the semifinals on Saturday. Sponsored by Extra Supermarket, Rewa topped Group B and will compete in the second semifinal, while Mahijibhai Hardware/Calgary Nadi, finishing as runners-up, will play in the first semifinal.
