A new 30-seater catamaran is set to enhance local tourism and commerce on Vanua Levu, Fiji’s second-largest island. The catamaran, named Gosal Cruisers and valued at $1 million, is owned by Charan Jeath Singh, who is both a prominent business leader and the country’s Sugar Minister.
The vessel, which arrived from China in a shipping container, is the first of its kind for the island, and its launch is anticipated to spark increased economic activity. According to Mr. Singh, it will provide opportunities for local residents to sell food and cultural items, significantly supporting their livelihoods. He referred to the catamaran as an “early Christmas present” for the people of Vanua Levu.
The Gosal Cruisers is scheduled to commence operations on December 20, just in time for the holiday season. The day cruise service will depart from the Grand Eastern Hotel jetty daily at 9:30 AM, offering guests sightseeing and cultural exchanges at various beautiful destinations, including Kia, Mali, Druadrua, Vorovoro, Savusavu, and nearby islands. The vessel is designed for a crew of three and can cruise at speeds of around 35 knots.
