Five new bus shelters have officially opened in the Central Eastern Division, aimed at enhancing the safety and comfort of daily commuters, especially school children and residents in expanding neighborhoods. These shelters have been strategically placed in proximity to local schools, ensuring vital protection from the elements for families during their daily travel.
The newly established bus shelters are located at:
– Verata Ucunivanua, Tailevu – Adjacent to Vunibokoi District School
– Naitutu Sote, Waidalice, Tailevu – Next to Waidalice Primary School
– Toga Road, Rewa – Near Toga District School
– Vuci Road, Nausori – Close to Sila Central College
– Nadali Bypass Road, Nausori – Along the Nadali Bypass corridor
The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has confirmed that these shelters were constructed in response to the growing demand for safer public transport infrastructure in both rural and peri-urban areas. This initiative underscores the commitment to improve the daily commuting experience for residents, particularly students who depend on public transport.
A spokesperson from the FRA remarked, “These new bus shelters support our goal of building resilient, community-centered infrastructure across Fiji. They serve not only as transport waiting areas but as part of a larger effort to improve quality of life in our rapidly developing communities.”
As part of a broader national infrastructure improvement initiative, the FRA is calling on the public to care for these public assets by keeping them clean and free of vandalism. The message emphasizes the community’s shared responsibility in maintaining such infrastructure to ensure it can serve the public effectively for years to come.
These efforts reflect a proactive approach by the authorities to not only enhance connectivity and accessibility but also prioritize the safety and comfort of commuters in Fiji, contributing positively to the community’s mobility. The introduction of these new bus shelters is a promising step toward creating a more secure and convenient public transport environment, fostering hope for continued improvements in infrastructure across the country.
