The Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) has announced the postponement of its Annual General Meeting (AGM), originally set for this evening, due to an injunction filed by immediate past president Dr. Ram Raju. This development has created uncertainty around the meeting’s alignment with the NCCI’s constitutional commitments.
In a public statement, NCCI President Lawrence Kumar expressed the organization’s regret, stating, “Due to the uncertainty and cloud of doubts hanging over our good intentions to follow the NCCI constitution and hold the AGM in January as we had promised six months earlier in the Special General Meeting, we now have to defer this important event to a further date or until the matter is fully resolved in the High Court of Lautoka and Appeals Court of Suva.”
Kumar extended his apologies for any inconvenience this postponement may cause, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to adhering to its constitutional obligations. The resolution of this matter will be closely watched, as the AGM is a significant event for the NCCI and its members. The delay may provide an opportunity for stakeholders to address issues more thoroughly before the meeting is rescheduled, ensuring that all concerns are handled appropriately.
