Yaro Chiefs and Police have set up a mouth-watering clash for the title at the 39th Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s after winning their semi-finals at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The crowd favourites, Yaro Chiefs, survived a stern test from a determined Raviravi Warriors side to post a 19-7 victory in the second men’s cup semi-final. The Chiefs fashioned two tries to secure the win, holding off repeated Raviravi raids in the latter stages to book their place in the decider. Police earlier earned their spot with a composed 12-7 victory over Village Boys in the first semi-final, a tight contest in which the discipline and structure of the uniformed side proved decisive.

The semi-final results have set up a final that pits Yaro’s flair and fan backing against Police’s steady, organised approach — a classic sevens contrast that has supporters and neutrals alike eager for the title showdown at the Nadi venue. Both teams will be targeting the Nawaka crown in what is the 39th edition of the long-running Fiji Bitter-sponsored tournament.

There was equally compelling action in the U21 category, where Serevi Select will meet Aloha Taveuni in the final. Serevi Select edged Nalawa 10-7 in a low-scoring semi that hinged on a late defensive stand, while Aloha Taveuni progressed with a 10-5 victory over Malomalo in the other semi-final. The U21 decider promises to showcase rising talent and could be an early indicator of players to watch on the wider sevens circuit.

The women’s division has also produced a closely contested final, with Lilian Amazon set to face Ezers. Lilian Amazon powered past Kasabias Sinukakala 26-19 to claim their place in the decider, while Ezers narrowly defeated Navy 21-19 in a match decided by fine margins. The narrow scorelines across the semi-finals reflect the increasing depth and competitiveness in women’s sevens at Nawaka.

The Nawaka 7s at Prince Charles Park remains one of the key tournaments on Fiji’s sevens calendar, drawing strong local support and serving as a platform for both established club sides and emerging players. With finals to be played across the men’s, U21 and women’s divisions, the tournament’s concluding day is expected to deliver high-intensity sevens rugby and passionate crowds in Nadi.

Organisers and fans will now turn their attention to the finals, where tactical nous, finishing ability and composure under pressure will determine who lifts the Fiji Bitter Nawaka trophies this year.
