A tragic road accident in the Nausori Highlands has claimed the life of a 15-year-old male student. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon while the student was traveling with seven other peers towards Nadi. According to police reports, the vehicle lost control while descending a hill in the Nausori Highlands area.
Initial investigations reveal that the vehicle overturned, resulting in all passengers being ejected upon impact. It subsequently fell down a cliff estimated to be around 100 meters deep. Emergency services promptly responded and transported all occupants to Nadi Hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, the 15-year-old was declared dead upon arrival.
As for the other passengers, three individuals remain hospitalized but are reported to be in stable condition. The remaining occupants, including the driver, received treatment and were later discharged. The Fiji Police Force has initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic accident.
This incident serves as a somber reminder of the perils of road travel and underscores the necessity for heightened safety measures, particularly for young passengers.
