The Nasinu Secondary School Old Boys rugby team recently showcased their talent in the final leg of the Fiji Sports Council’s under-20 7s tournament, after previously competing in the Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union Deans competition. In a noteworthy display, they triumphed over the Lami Cavaliers with a score of 14-0 during the Bowl quarter-final match at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

Head coach Digitaki Leavaci revealed that the team is comprised of players from the current school’s U18 Deans team, marking their debut in a major tournament setting. He expressed surprise at their progress, stating that reaching the Bowl quarter-finals was beyond their initial expectations and emphasized the valuable experience gained from participating in this competition.

Leavaci mentioned that the team has only been practicing together for four weeks following their final exams, during which time attendance at training sessions has been a challenge. Despite the hurdles, he believes that showcasing their talents in a competitive environment like this is essential for their growth.

Looking to the future, the team intends to participate in the Fiji Bitter 7s series U20 and is implementing training programs to enhance their competitiveness. They see this tournament as a stepping stone to evaluate their skills against other prominent teams and are optimistic about their potential for improvement.

This emerging team’s journey underscores the importance of perseverance and teamwork, as they continue their development in the rugby landscape. With structured training and competitive aspirations, they aim to make their mark in upcoming tournaments.

Overall, the performance of the Nasinu Secondary School Old Boys team serves as an inspiration for young athletes, highlighting the value of hard work and commitment in sports.
