A 43-year-old man, Samuela Salusalu, has been deemed unfit to enter a plea regarding the murder of 16-year-old Salote Sikiti in Naqali Village, an incident that occurred in December 2025. Justice Daniel Goundar presided over the case last week, ordering that Salusalu be remanded further as proceedings continue.

The tragic event unfolded when the defendant allegedly attacked Sikiti with a cane knife, causing injuries that ultimately resulted in her death. Reports indicate that the incident took place as the young girl was making her way home from a local shop.

The court has scheduled the next mention for February 20, 2026, to confirm the prosecution’s standing in the case, as the community mourns the loss of a young life taken too soon. The complexities of this tragic case highlight the ongoing concerns surrounding violence in communities, emphasizing the need for both justice and preventative measures to protect the youth.
