Organizers of the Namaka Volleyball and Rugby 7s Tournaments have provided important updates regarding registration deadlines and event specifics. Biu Tadranu, the tournament organizer, announced that the registration period for the Namaka Rugby 7s Tournament has been extended until next Friday. This tournament is scheduled to take place on January 24-25 at the Namaka Public School grounds, featuring 24 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams.
The prize purse for the men’s winners stands at $5,000, while the champions of the women’s tournament will receive $2,500. The registration costs are set at $500 for men’s teams and $400 for women’s.
Tadranu expressed the tournament’s objectives, stating, “The Namaka Rugby 7s Tournament aims to provide a strong platform for grassroots rugby development, giving opportunities for new talent to shine.”
In addition, the registration for the Namaka Volleyball Tournament is set to close tomorrow. This volleyball event will be held earlier, running from January 17-18, also at Namaka Public School.
Both competitions are aimed at fostering community spirit and enhancing sports development in Fiji. This initiative reflects a commitment to cultivating local talent and creating a robust sporting culture within the community, which is a promising step towards future sports excellence in the region.
