The Ministry of Public Works, Meteorological Services, and Transport is actively engaged in the restoration of the Nailawa crossing in Dawasamu, Tailevu, after substantial damage caused by recent heavy rainfall. The crossing was partially washed away, which has affected transport for the villagers of Natadradave, Delakado, Vorovoro, and Naveilolo in the region.

Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau visited the site to assess the damage and received a comprehensive briefing from the on-ground emergency operations team. In positive news, while heavy rains continue, river levels have begun to recede, allowing teams to carry out safety assessments for the surrounding communities.

Authorities are emphasizing the importance of safety for villagers during this challenging time, urging them to remain cautious to prevent any accidents. The swift response and ongoing efforts showcase the commitment to restoring full access to the area and ensuring the wellbeing of the residents.
