The Nadi Rugby Union held its Annual General Meeting at the Nadi Civic Centre last night, during which a new executive committee was elected to steer the union for the next three years. The meeting gathered representatives from various clubs, stakeholders, and rugby officials to assess the union’s achievements and outline future developments in rugby within the district.

Currently, there are 32 clubs registered under the Nadi Rugby Union, with 29 fulfilling the compliance criteria necessary to partake in the AGM. Among those eligible, a noteworthy turnout of 22 affiliated clubs attended the meeting, signaling robust support for the region’s rugby governance and administration.

As the meeting concluded, Ratu Ponijese Lou was elected as the president of the union for the 2026–2029 term, with Jeff Tamata appointed as the vice president. Other key positions included Ana Gale as secretary and Adi Kelera Folau as assistant secretary. Koliaci Nasiga takes on the role of treasurer, with Peni Qativi serving as the assistant treasurer. Additionally, Marc McElrath, Akash Narsey, and Elimeleki Navula were elected as executive committee members.

The new leadership team is set to focus on enhancing club competitions, improving governance frameworks, and fostering player development pathways throughout the Nadi rugby community. The union expressed gratitude for the support from its affiliated clubs and stakeholders, which played a crucial role in the successful execution of the AGM.

Officials of the Nadi Rugby Union emphasized their commitment to promoting unity, transparency, and the ongoing advancement of the sport. With this refreshed leadership, the Nadi Rugby Union aims to uphold its standing as one of Fiji’s premier provincial rugby unions, nurturing the growth and development of rugby in the region.
