In a recent crackdown on crime, police in Nadi registered 22 criminal cases over a two-week operation. The range of offenses included assault, theft, property damage, serious assault, common nuisance, and drug-related issues. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa reported that the operation not only focused on law enforcement but also included community engagement initiatives, such as perception surveys to enhance collaboration between law enforcement and local businesses.
SSP Vaisewa emphasized the importance of community input in shaping police operations, stating, “We take all the concerns raised on board and will continue to review our operations for the safety and security of all.” The operation’s efforts reflect a commitment to address public safety concerns effectively.
Looking ahead, the police plan to continue these operations, with the next review slated for February 7, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to improving safety and security in the region. This proactive approach could foster greater trust and partnership between the police and the community, ultimately leading to a safer environment for all residents and visitors.
