Nadi Airport Unveils Game-Changing Upgrades for Travelers

Fiji Airports Ltd recently held a commissioning ceremony for several terminal facility infrastructure development projects, including the construction of a new Gate 8 at Nadi International Airport. Financial backing for these initiatives is provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific, funded by the Japanese government.

ADB’s Pacific Subregional Office Regional Director Aaron Batten emphasized the significance of tourism in the Fijian economy, stating that the grant from the Japanese government will enhance the capacity of Nadi International Airport and streamline tourism processes as visitor numbers continue to grow.

The new Gate 8 will incorporate universal seating areas throughout the terminal, universally accessible restrooms, a dedicated family restroom, water fountains, electronic charging stations, crowd control barriers, and extra baggage trolleys. These upgrades aim to alleviate passenger congestion at the departure gate, effectively manage the flow of people, and improve overall airport services.

Fiji Airports CEO Mesake Nawari noted that visitor arrivals are currently at record levels and that this project is essential for enhancing efficiency, encouraging travelers to return to Fiji.
