A 23-year-old man from Nabua Topline has been taken into custody in Suva after an incident involving the alleged assault of a police officer on Waimanu Road yesterday afternoon. According to police reports, officers from the Central Division, K9 unit, and Southern Division were dispatched in response to a call about disturbances in the area.
As officers arrived, the situation intensified when the suspect reportedly attacked one of the officers before fleeing to a nearby residence. Law enforcement personnel pursued the individual and were able to apprehend him shortly after the incident. The officer involved sustained injuries during the altercation.
The arrested man remains detained as investigations into the incident are ongoing. This case highlights the risks that law enforcement officers face in the line of duty while maintaining public safety.
